I don't think there would be any problem if you connected the modem to your fibre connection. Give it a try least you will know if it works or not.

You cannot use an adsl modem cum router with a fiber connection. You just need a cable router if I am not wrong. Which company's connection is it?

You have a cable connection and the modem is an adsl modem with a built in router. You cannot use it with that connection. We cannot really suggest anything unless we know which connection it is. Even sify has started saying fiber to home when its a lousy 1mbps connection.

I cannot really comment without knowing which companys fiber connection it is and are you using a modem at your end or is it just a cable that you plug in directly into your computer?

You seem to be shying away from sharing the name of the company you are looking to get a connection from.

This is something you might want to have a look at :

    TP-LINK TL-MR3420 3G/4G Wireless N Router

Not bad for the price I would say.

That doesnt take a lan cable in I guess. It looks like it is purely for data cards and wont work with your cable broadband.
