Red face GPS Navigator or GLONASS?

    Hi guys,

I'm plannning to buy a navigator (software for my android). I have been using WisePilot (mostly found with Sony phones), however it was not functioning when I really needed it, and daa hungry application!! So, thats out of my "list".
I have seen 'mapmyindia', but that does not come for Android. What I am left with is "Sygic". Its offline maps (so saves on data), but gives updates (unlimited) once the prouct is purchased.

    Any suggestions?
I prefer offline maps (with updates option)
My mobile device has both GPS and GLONASS (so a navigator which works on both the platform is preferred)
Maps for both India and Middle East is what I am looking for.

Also, can someone tell me, would GLONASS be of any advantage than GPS, or both are more or less the same? (The Russians are better than US??Are they?

    Cheers!
    Nevin.

I have been using Nokia here maps for some time just for fun and its been alright so far. These are available offline so unlike other apps you save up on data while on the go and is a lot quicker where you are on slower networks. Here is the link to the official Android application page : https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...app.maps&hl=en

And the best thing is that its free

Nagivation applications are good, but the ones which are in the phone (Google Maps) which are pre installed are better I think.

I dont know how the paid maps are different from the free ones, but if the paid ones have something which the free ones like Google maps dont then getting the paid maps applications may be worth it.

Will keep a tab on this thread as I myself would get some ideas about map applications.

During one of my recent short distace flight, put the "GPS Test" android application on test. I had to get a window seat to get a clear view of the sky and remain steady so that the satellites locks the phone. The phone was on flight mode, however I managed to get the cruising speed and altitude.

Navigation is very Important and hence , a good app is a must .

But out of many GPS Apps none is what could impress me . Accuracy is way beyond imagination and also the time and the best ways suggested are not good
