    Default Moto G liquid defect

    Hi friends,
I had a Motorola Moto G first generation and sadly, I dropped it into a swimming pool while clicking pictures. Since then, it's touch stopped working and rest of the things were working perfectly fine. As it was already out of warranty, taking it to the Motorola service centre would have been quite cost involving for me. So, I decided to search some local places to get it repaired. I just want to recover my important data from it, but it's not connecting to my laptop for data transfer. I mean it's charging perfectly while connecting it to laptop, but there's no such way to transfer data. I urgently need some help guys, help me out.

one way to save phones from moisture is to remove back panel, battery and put all three parts into a container of rice (preferably parboiled but even raw would do) for 2-3 days. the rice absorbs the moisture. do not under any circumstances switch on the phone while its wet.
if you want just data, there are softwares that can do that. check with places where they repair phones.

That is quite a very practical strategy I think. So rice can act as a moisture absorber.

The best possible thing we an do in case of a wet phone is to switch it off immediately. I still remember when my Samsung fell in to a bucket of water and the phone was on. I suddenly switched it off, removed the back panel, took out the battery & SIM and placed it near a fan to let it dry. But it was under water for a few seconds only as it just fell from my pocket. After 4-5 hours I switched it on and it was perfect. I still use that phone without any issues.

I thought that the Moto G was one of the phones that could get wet. I must be mistaken. According to this video, it should work just fine. Maybe if you point out to Motorola that the phone was supposed to get wet, then they will fix it anyway.

I think the device is marketed as more water proof than than totally water resistant though, and with it being out of warranty anyway, I'd doubt if Motorola would change or repair the device for free.

Moto G1 is not water resistant, only G3. Moto G1 was never marketed as water resistant
